The first Texas record (and second U.S. record) for Mexican Crescent was reported by James McDermott in 2009 in the LepSoc News. At the time, in personal conversation, he expressed the conviction the species was present but overlooked. However, there were no further reports of the crescents again until 2024, when they were found regularly and in good numbers throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Let the reader decide whether James' remark was accurate or prophetic!
